So has anyone heard of the new reality tv show, The Real Gilligan's Island?! For some reason I found myself watching 3 hours of it over the past couple of days. Here is a description of the show:

"What happens when seven mismatched castaways are stranded on an island and have to rely on each other to get back to civilization? You remember the outcome--it became a hit television show! Now, TBS is shipwrecking a whole new group of people in The Real Gilligan's Island. So, just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip...

As the premiere episode begins, host Scott Lasky tells us that a group of real-life castaways will soon have to work as a team in a variety of challenges to get off the island. The real Mary Ann, Ginger, Professor, Skipper, Gilligan and Millionaire Couple were chosen from casting calls around the country. Thousands tried out, but only fourteen made the cut, including Skipper Jim who says, "The only thing I have in common with the Skipper is that I'm a real captain. He was a teddy bear and I'm a Grizzly Bear." Professor Eric echoes that he's very different from the original Professor, saying, "This group needs a gay Professor."

The castaways are assembled, but will the group be ready for 100-degree weather, large iguanas, poisonous tarantulas and snakes--as well as competing with the castaways' identical counterparts? You may have noticed that FOURTEEN cast members were chosen. This island will have two complete sets of castaways! As the first seven head to the island on the first S.S. Minnow, another Mary Ann, Movie Star Ginger, Skipper, Gilligan, Millionaire Couple and Professor set sail on another S.S. Minnow to meet them."

Once both boats reach the island, the first group is introduced to the second by host Scott. "A surprise occurred that just blew away all of us. Nobody had the slightest inkling at all when seven near-mirror images come walking into our camp," says Professor Pat. "When I saw the other Gilligan, it wasn't what I expected. It was kind of a relief because I thought I was the clumsiest person I knew," says Gilligan Chris upon seeing Gilligan Gooner. Skipper Jim wasn't as relieved saying, "When I looked over at Skipper Bob I thought there can only be one captain in charge and that has to be me."

The host tells the fourteen that they've already been broken into teams, Minnow One is the Gold Team and Minnow Two is the Green Team. The challenges will pit each castaway against his or her counterpart, for example, Mary Ann vs. Mary Ann, Skipper vs. Skipper. The winners have a chance at winning the prize and being rescued, the loser will be banished to another island with no shot at either reward. They also learn that the only amenities will be those they brought with them and anything left on the island from the former castaways. Soon, the castaways get to check out their new accommodations. The Millionaire Couples share one hut, the Gingers and Mary Anns all share another, the Professors bunk together and the Skippers and Gilligans are roommates."

As you read, one of the professors on the show happens to be gay and the millionaire couple can not handle it. It's so ridiculous to see a woman (that is worth 3 million dollars)defend her stance on gay marriage and seriously relate it do the marriage of a man and his snake. If you get a chance, watch the show, not because it's a good show, but because it's funny to see how obserd people can act.

Long Overdue

So... let's see, how do you post on here again??? Oh yeah, it’s been so long I can't remember.....

Currently I'm sitting here at work (In the Office of Student Financial Assistance), yes STILL at Miami University. Half of my day here typically consist of playing solitaire or other online games to pass the time. They keep telling me that this is "the slow period" but it's been almost 2 months and I've not seen anything but this slow period. Hopefully things will pick up soon. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining about being in Oxford still but I do wish I was somewhere else. If only Miami could be somewhere else. I enjoy working for the University and I enjoy most of the people here. I just feel like I've gotten more than my fill of college life and to still be here, living in Fox & Hounds (student housing), constantly being reminded that I'm still in a college town but I'm not a college student has a way of making me feel like a failure. It seems like others I graduated with have left here and done bigger and better things in bigger and better cities and I'm still here, milking Miami for all it's worth. I hate to make my first entry back to Livejournal so pathetic but I suppose I should say what's on my mind.

Anyway, on to something more interesting to read:

Thanksgiving at the Moore household was what is was. I got home on Wednesday after my usual 3 hour trip home took closer to 4 because of the traffic in c-bus. Thursday's dinner was soo yummy; it really makes me miss my mommy's home cookin'. That night Ryan came to Cambridge to spend a couple of nights with my family because we were all going to Pittsburgh, PA on Friday morning for a night to do some Christmas shopping and to go to the IKEA store, which by the way is my new favorite store. I've been to one before, but I guess I didn't realize how much cool stuff they have there. Eventually we got back to Oxford on Saturday night to relax before Ryan left on Sunday. I won't see him again until mid December when he is home for winter break. I had a wonderful time with him during his visit. We talked a ton about the future and what are long-term plans are. It's all really exciting to think about and even more exiting to be with someone and think about our future and to have the feeling that it really will happen.

Side note: Pittsburgh is the worst place to get around when driving; I can’t tell you how many times we all got lost or almost died from awful drivers!

My teaching license is in the mail and I should be recieving it in a few days. I NEED a job! I have spent all of this money on PRAXIS ($200+) and the license application fee ($35), a background check ($65), not to mention Miami tuition. I can't not teach this fall. I need to find a job.

So today is going to be a busy day. The two ladies I work with in the Benefits part of the office are off today AND Monday so I will have to run around to keep on top of everything. Also, I'm leaving at 4:30 and driving to my parent's house in Cambridge. The 3 1/2 hour drive sucks but I am kinda looking forward to it. I need some time away from here to stop worrying about my job problem. I'm not sure what we're doing, but hopefully it's fun and relaxing!

On a side note: I want to start eating healthier and loose some weight from my gut. It's really getting gross! Even when I tell myself that I need to loose weight, 5 minutes later i'm eating a double cheeseburger from McDonald's or a frozen pizza for dinner. I need to do it now! Not tomorrow or the next day or next week. NOW!

Okay... back to work.

I just got my graduation gift from the Personnel and Benefit Services office. They gave me a Cross pen and pencil set with my name engraved on them. I have attached a picture of them from the www.Cross.com website and a little description of the set! It was really nice of them!!

Well, I have decided to try and write in my livejournal again. Hopefully I can train myself to do it every day. I think it's a really good way to get things out of my mind, plus it gives me a chance to get feedback on them. So, like I said, I'm going to try!

So I guess I should start with the "catch-up". I'm working in the Personnel-Benefit Services office at Miami U this summer for the third summer in a row. This time I am actually considered a full-time temporary employee instead of the student employee I used to be considered. This comes with some good perks. I earn sick leave and I get about double the pay! As far as the actual job goes, I do like it. I feel kinda ashamed to say that I enjoy working for Miami but it's the truth! I actually applied to some full time permanent jobs this week, one that I'm really qualified for, but it would be a weird job to have. I'll let you know more details on that as I find out more about the job. I feel like people will make fun of me if I don't teach this fall, but I'm 21 years old and I guess I need to stop worrying about what other people think.

Life in Oxford is very slow. I'm living in Oxford Commons with Ryan. That is going very well for the most part. I am very happy to be living with him this summer. He took the summer off from Graduate School to live up here with me. Just like any relationship we sometimes argue about silly things, but I do love him so much. He makes me very happy.

Like I said before, I'm going to try and post everyday. Your comments to my posts will encourage me to post more often. So comment damn it! ;)

I'll get back to work now.

So lately I have been really concerned about where my life is headed. I feel like I don't know where I will be once May comes and I am officially "on my own". I know I should feel excited about the new lifestyle I will lead but honestly I feel nothing but terror. I'm soo scared that I will not get a job or worse, I get one and absolutely hate it. Teaching might not be my thing. What if I wasted 4 years of my life and all of that money for something I don't even like?! I'm also scared about money. I want a job where I can feel secure with my finances and I don't have to worry about spending a little money here or there. I want to travel and have nice things in my home. A teaching salary more than likely won't provide me with those things. I guess it's okay to have these worries but I don't like having them. I am the type of person that needs things to be answered and for things in my life to planned out and when they're not, I get unstable and freak.

So today was my last day of student teaching. I thought I was going to be really happy when it was all over, but it was kind of sad. That just kinda caught me off guard... anyway, right now I am on the free internet computer at the Dayton Airport. My flight for Atlanta leaves in an hour.. i'm just killing time. Well there is a weird man next to me so I have to go now. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
